Hi, I’m Candita. Welcome to HAVE Therapy!

I’m Candita Hinds, a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) in Maryland and the founder of Have Therapy, LLC. I earned my double Master’s degree in professional counseling from Washington Adventist University in 2013, and I’ve been practicing for nearly a decade.

Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working with a wide range of individuals and communities, from juveniles in detention centers to elementary students in public schools, to families served through the Department of Social Services. My work has taken me into homes, classrooms, hospitals, and community programs, where I’ve provided individual, couples, group, and family therapy.

I’ve supported clients through challenges such as depression, anxiety, trauma, bipolar disorder, adjustment issues, relationship difficulties, and low self-esteem. Each role has added a layer of understanding, compassion, and purpose to how I show up for others today.

  • Why I Do What I Do.

From a young age, I was told I had an uncanny ability to connect with people, no matter their background, personality, or perspective. I was always curious about how people feel and think, what motivates them, what pushes them, what shapes their behavior; the deeper aspects of human behavior, not just what’s visible on the surface. That natural curiosity, paired with a deep desire to serve, evolved into my life’s work.

Through H.A.V.E. Therapy, I’ve built a space that embodies my belief that healing happens through Awareness, Vulnerability, and Empowerment.

Beyond counseling, I provide coaching for adults pursuing growth in their personal and professional lives. I also invest in the next generation of mental health professionals, serving as a clinical supervisor, preceptor for aspiring psychiatric nurse practitioners, and adjunct professor of psychology at Washington Adventist University.

  • What My Goal Is

Not all wounds are visible, and not all pain is physical. We all wrestle with difficult emotions and mental struggles, not to mention the pressures of life that can feel overwhelming at times.

With my experience, I believe in treating everyone with respect, sensitivity, and compassion. My goal through H.A.V.E. Therapy is to help you achieve a greater sense of self-awareness, embrace vulnerability as a source of strength (not shame), and feel empowered to become your best self. You are the expert of your own story, the captain of your ship and within you are countless strengths that can help you overcome even the toughest challenges.

As the philosopher Lao Tzu said, “The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” My role is to support you as you take that first step toward a more fulfilling and happier life.

  • Who I Am Outside of the Office

First and foremost, I’m a proud mom, a role that constantly reminds me of the importance of empathy, patience, and purpose. Outside of work, I’m a lover of laughter, music, movement, travel, and adventure.

I’ve visited over 15 countries (and counting), always seeking new experiences, cultures, and opportunities to learn and connect. I enjoy cooking, dancing, watching a good movie, and spending time with the people I love.

My faith and connection to my Higher Power are a vital part of who I am and how I navigate life. It keeps me grounded, grateful and guided in all that I do.

My compassion has led me beyond borders, participating in humanitarian and mission work abroad, because few things bring me more joy than seeing others smile.
